Louise lets her latest review speak for her!
I got contacted by Louise through my myspace, and that is the beauty of that site: one can discover so many artists from around the world that they’d never normally come in contact with.
Actually, Louise is British. Her CD is mainly standards, so there’s nothing new there, it’s all as expected, but as for her voice? I don’t think I’ve heard a better Jazz voice in this country. You can often tell the studied music college singers as they’re often so clinical and soulless but Louise has such a big, gutsy, soulful, full sound with impeccable intonation and it just all sounds so effortless to her.
Apart from the great British saxophonist Alan Barnes the other names in the band are new to me but the performance is very satisfying indeed. At no point does Louise get outshone though, she couldn’t. Let’s hope she gets on to the world stage where she belongs. As I say, that’s the beauty of myspace.
